Battleground PolyU

DJ Clark, Multimedia Director at China Daily in Hong Kong, reported on the local protests starting in 2019 with a 360 degree sound and camera system. The coverage focused on the riots at the blockade of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His story went on to win the “Interactive of the Year” award in the World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest 2020, among other awards. “Battleground PolyU is a 360 degree experience that immerses the viewer in a defining moment in the history of democracy”, the jury declared. In this chapter of our Masterclass on Crisis Reporting, DJ Clark explains how he created this.
